Is it normal for women to still like/love a guy that hits/beats then?

It's frustrating, but not enough to get that worked up about it.
Some girls are clueless, some are guilted or forced into thinking that way, some know it's wrong and do it anyway. There's little you can do about the girls; we should be educating the guys.

Normal? Unfortunately, yes, it's pretty common in some areas. Good? Obviously not. Women tend to think they can't do any better and it may not seem like it to an outsider but there's a lot of mental manipulation that takes effect.

At the beginning, the abuser does and says all the right things. He seems like a real man that everyone would want to be with. He is the nice gentleman and lover that you've always wanted. They do all the things to make the woman fall in love with them. Then one time he gets pissed off and hits her. Because of the way the relationship started, and that she already loves him, she's confused. She thinks he just made a mistake, and tries to ride it out. So he plays the good guy again, and then he makes another "mistake." Abuse is a cycle. They manipulate, control, and go back and forth between who they really are and the great guy. Also, the abuser always makes sure to tell the victim that it is their fault.

I know how frustrating it is to watch someone you know be a victim of abuse. Most times, I think they know just how fucked up their situation is, but they're in denial. They want their honeymoon back, or they're just too scared to leave.
