Is it normal for women to change for the worst after having kids?

I have lots of friends with kid and it really seems like they get stupid and judgemental after. Before they had kids, they talked about normal things and everyone could have opinions, now if you are not a MOTHER (with lots of emphasis) then you can't understand why CSI is the worst and should be banned. And God forbid a non-MOTHER say that a c-section looks like it is harder to recover from and that women who schedule them so they don't miss the super bowl seem crazy- that MOTHER is advising me as the poor, lacking, less than human that I am. One seriously told me I would understand why Mary Roach books are immature when I have a kid.

It isn't just one, at least 8 of my friends got like this. Only one seems normal after having her kid. If this is par for the course, I may not have kids.

Is It Normal?

  • "That's how we keep people dumbed down, push them to have a family so that their world becomes small and focused only on that family."

    • The public education system is doing a very good job by itself dumbing the kids down. Its a failed social experiment but who can afford a private school education? Notice the elites send their kids to private schools. They know how poor the public schools are.

      • True, very true. But most people learn alot after school. Take me, I went to a public school and didn't learn shit but I taught myself what I needed after school and ended up quite bright. You're right about schools but they are only a tiny part of the cause, it's the way society is constructed that really fucks things up. It's all planned by the rich, there are only so many "high level" jobs and they make sure their kids get them.

Everything is designed to keep people "in place", marriage, kids, schools, high taxes, racism, sexism, low wages, ect, ect. Look at the huge rise of people "going postal" in America these days, the cracks in this carefully constructed society are wearing people thin. And the shit is going to hit the fan really soon, you can feel the tension on the streets.

        • Theyve accelerated the collapse. The current system will be replaced with world governance and has already begun. When they take our guns nothing will stop pure tyranny. It is biblical, accept the Lord Jesus as Savior.

            • The govt is preparing for such a rebellion. The DHS bought 2 billion hollow point rounds of ammo over the last yr. Napolitano refuses to explain the need for 25 yrs worth of ammo. Theyve also prepared underground bunkers in the Ozarks. Look it up

  • I have seen this and I don't particularly understand it myself. I think they have over the course of their lives unconsciously taken down what society and media presents as the ideal mother. So that they try to fit that mold rather than be themselves.

I think a lot of the time they disliked themselves so focusing on fitting into a new mold was a way of running from their old lives and problems. Not a good strategy but one a lot of people go for.

Plenty of women don't do that though and continue being themselves after having children.

    • sounds like a great idea to me! better than my girlfriend's mother who spent her whole life reveling in her "problems" and acts like a highschool bitch and i'm not going to count how long ago that was.

  • Yeah, kids can do that to you. Little shit kids.

  • They get the "mother" chip on their shoulder. The worst type is an English teacher with the mother syndrome.

  • Not all are like that, but yes, some are condescending cunts. Seems like, lucky you, you've managed to find a lot of the cunts.

I've been lucky, my experience has been the opposite - some deserve to be punched for their bullshit, but most are lovely.

      • Hah! We both know that could never happen :) You're definitely on the sane new mother's list. But we all knew that would be how it went, anyway.

    • Thanks. That makes me feel better about it. It was really getting to me. The girl who said that about the books read "Spook" with me and loved it. I don't want to stop enjoying everything.

      • No problem :)

While I have no doubt that having a child is a completely life changing thing, there just seem to be some people who think giving birth puts them above all others. That, I cannot understand. It's just an act of biology :/ They're not the only person to have given birth.

  • I've totally noticed this myself. I'm in my 30's and childfree, and I've noticed that some women who have children talk down to me. I often get the feeling that these women secretly feel envious of my career, happy marriage and freedom-- most of them are women who seem frustrated and likely feel trapped in crappy relationships and either lackluster or nonexistent careers. I totally agree, it's annoying... Just try to focus on your childfree and "cool parent" friends until some of the crazies cool down a bit (some won't, but a couple might once their lives get back on track).

  • They feel a diminished sense of self worth due to having kids and it reassures them of their status to develop a pack mentality and inflate their own ego with inclusion.

  • Kids are little shits. Mums that act like she's 'that' is just pissed off that she stinks of baby sick, has saggy tits, and a huge vagina, and her husband doesn't wanna shag her anymore.

  • I am a mother who works and has a career and I don't splend time with stay at home mums for this reason, we have nothing to talk about. Sad as it is, it's time to find new friends.

  • Hence, postpartum depression. It's hard enough keeping your identity as a mom without turning into a whole new person.
