Who can really say what is normal or not. My best friend and I have always shared a very close relationship without sex. I think I would be fine with exploring more with him as we already share anything and everything emotionally. However, as we get older he is less comfortable with the physical contact. I think most of this is due to his fear of being labeled as gay. I respect his feelings as our love and friendship is far more important than any physical contact. My advice to you is to cherish the relationship that you have. Both of you
need to follow your hearts and whatever happens, happens. It sounds to me that it is unlikely that anything could damage the love and friendship you have for each other. Good luck!
