What got me is when you said the "bright side is that we can leave whenever we want to". Killing yourself involves entering the dark side, it is not sunny or bright when pondering suicide. Just ask anyone that has killed themselves... They go to a lake of fire and fry (as much as I'd like to think otherwise).
Is it normal for this to happen?

i think he means we can escape our problems altogether somehow. maybe he means suicide.
