Is it normal for this to happen?

I promise this is a real story, it hasn't happened to me, but to a very close friend of mine. She got dumped by her boyfriend, so she decided to go out at night to forget. While going to the club, she got attacked by a guy with a razor who stole money from her, and inside the club, they robbed her phone . Do you think it is normal that life is so unfair?

  • Welcome to Planet Earth! There are far worse things happening out there. A razor is nothing... I've seen what a crazed maniac with a machete can do.

  • That's why you shouldn't hang out in dingy, sordid places like clubs and bars.

  • Life sucks. The bright side is, we can leave whenever we want to.

ps.: hope your friend is okay.

          • What got me is when you said the "bright side is that we can leave whenever we want to". Killing yourself involves entering the dark side, it is not sunny or bright when pondering suicide. Just ask anyone that has killed themselves... They go to a lake of fire and fry (as much as I'd like to think otherwise).

      • i think he means we can escape our problems altogether somehow. maybe he means suicide.

  • Life is not fair, you may as well get used to it.

  • Sadly, life can be even more unfair than described in the story. Having lost only her phone and money (and probably her cool) she can consider herself to be lucky. I find it more unfair when those who cause you harm are close to you.

  • Well no one said life was easy. Shit happens. Especially in clubs.

  • To be honest, when we look at others misfortunes it's hard to believe that life, the universe, or God to be so cruel, but we never experience life like they do. Maybe she needs to get away from that scene, maybe her boyfriend was part of that scene, and the mugging was just the icing on the cake. We won't know. But this things might mean more to her than why me. You know what I mean?
