  • Every single person I have asked over facebook and in person has said this (telltale heart...which doesn't even make sense since it's a ticking noise, not a heartbeat). Except for someone who said "Jumanji" and my idea of "the mysterious ticking noise" (look it up on Youtube.) Or god forbid a bomb (though i don't think most of them actually tick).

But in all seriousness, I would really like to know!!

    • Could be a number of things. If plumbing runs through your floor, pipes can expand and contract...making a clicking or ticking sound. So can heat ducts. It could also be insects...or rodents. There's really no way to know without hearing it...or looking into it.

You mention it to your landlord?

      • thanks. THe thing is, it is steady like a clock or metronome. And quite fast. It literally sounds like there's a metronome stuck under the floor. So I guess that's what it is. You're right, it could be anything

        • I'd about put money on it being ductwork running through your floor. A loose piece of duct tape tapping on the duct's wall as air flows through it.

I'd mention it to your landlord. That'd drive me nuts.
