Is it normal for the little girl i'm babysitting to call me mommy?

I was babysitting yesterday and the three year old girl that I babysit called me "mommy" at least three times. One time it was to get my attention "Mommy!" and I looked at her with confusion. Then "Mommy can I have lemonade?" and "Mommy I want popcorn." I don't know if this was something that just slipped out or if I should be worried. Is it normal?

That is why. Little kids just call all adults mommy. We use to get this at my daycare and have to ask this momny or that mommy and they called some the adult men daddy. Little kids are like that and it tajes a few year wether or not they know all these peoples names. Every older womens a mom and every adult males a dad so not big deal. Also that may be the little they know how to say.

I lose count of the times two to three year old girls call me daddy when they're with their mother in a supermarket. Happens almost weekly. It makes me sad.

She's 3-years-old, she sees you as the authoritive figure. I had the same happen to me with my 3-year-old cousin. She called me daddy,(she has a daddy btw) I did help with getting her fed, dressed, changed her nappy and with potty training. I guess if you're involved in her life she sees you as mommy. If it makes you feel uncomfoetable tell her you're not mommy and what to call you other wise do asI did let it go she will eventually grow out of it. Now that my cousin is 18 we have laughs about it.

    Haha yes!

When my brother was little, he would call all men "Daddy." Haha... they would always freak out like they had a child they didn't know about. :)

Eventually she should learn that you aren't her mom, but you should definitely tell her not to call you "Mom."

My son once told me that the most amazing thing he ever learned (when he was a toddler) was that I had another name apart from Mom. She maybe just doesn't know the difference.

I learned my moms real name at four, and my dad kept telling me not to call her by her first name

I work at a day care and it happens all the time, trust me! But you should tell her mom, and tell her not to call you mom.

You need to explain it to her or tell her parents cause otherwise that's just fucked up.
