Like when teens pretend to be cutters?
Normal.
Teenagers are desperate for attention. They grow out of it.
This is very common amongst teenagers but not necessarily normal. People often say this is bad and pathetic, but usually the teenager can't actually help it. It's a sickness.
why solve a problem with another problem?
you can't light a fire next to a hose and ask others to feel like you couldn't put it out.
It's sad because some teenagers actually have problems, very serious problems and these things are real not made up.
Yes this is common, if you are talking about yourself here then you get out before things get deeper. Somebody may try to help you by telling a teacher or your parents then you are really screwed! You will then either have to admit to lying or lie even further. Get out now.
Yes sadly I think this does happen for with teenagers. Teenagers have strange ways of trying to get attention and possibly this teenager is trying to get help with another element of their life that they are not sure how to communicate. It's sad to think that some teenagers do things like this just for selfish attention but again I have seen examples of this too in schools.
