This is from a friends class or religion, part where they tracked different areas of the bible.
Now originally in areas like Rome and Greece being gay was considered normal and in fact promoted. When Roman places such as Sparta went to war they promoted homosexual relationships between soldiers, in order to create strong bonds so they would fight harder to protect their lovers.
This was all fine till they got home and were no longer interested in their female counterparts and population begun to decline. In a bid to get men interested in woman and again and raise reproduction after a war they announced that homosexuality was a sin and the practice of it had to stop. It was god's law. From there they added it to the bible.
Feel free to debate but this is how I've learned and understood it.
