Is it normal for someone with adhd to do this?

I have ADHD and traits of ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) and I find it very difficult to hold in urges to make odd noises or do strange things. My family say that it looks like Tourette's but I don't have Tourette's because I can control myself in public. But at home I just let it out and I do things like shout "I'm a chicken" and make noises that sound like "beeeee" and sometimes do things like show my belly or pull down my shorts. I don't really know why I do it but I have urges to and I'm not sure that it necessarily is something to do with my ADHD. Is it normal?

The part about saying "I'm a chicken" - not really normal.

Pulling your pants down - I live in the inner city and there is no shortage of young males walking around with their pants around their knees or ankles. So though it is not "normal" per se but it is common enough.

If these idiots that have their pants down below their asses knew where that came from they would stop in a hurry. Guys in the pen would lower their pants as a signal to other inmates they were available for sex. LOL

I always wondered if it was voluntary or not when they sag in prison.
But who knows, maybe these guys are asking for some luvin'.

I make up my own songs and sing them to my cat.

    • Does the cat like it? I think animals like the sound of singing

He runs, and jumps around then cuddles up to me, and purrs.

Even if the songs are NOT good, it has to sound better than the shit on the radio like ke$ha or Taylor Swift.

Thanks, my songs are lots of silly and redundant jibber jabber. I have not yet devolved to the point of gibberish.

It's just the adhd. My stepson has it. He can never sit still and constantly makes noises. Strangely enough, he often jokes he's a chicken nugget.

    • Thank you this makes me feel a lot better about it. That's a strange coincidence about the chicken nugget!

I have ADHD and I sort of do the same thing. Sometimes I'll just have to spazz out and move randomly or screech to get out excess energy. I may be on the spectrum as well.

I do this. If I have an urge to make a certain noise, blink a certain way, etc, then I do it and it feels nice. I can control it but when I'm alone I mostly let out all of that pent up energy.

  • Might just be pent up creative energy. I think you sound interesting, btw. :) In my experience, quite a few people behave similarly to what you described. I'm one of them. I have all sorts of sounds I like to make, sometimes in rhythm to music playing, or songs I make up on the fly, or just because it's fun. Also, I love talking in funny voices for no apparent reason. (I do a mean gold prospector impression even though I'm a woman.)

As long as you can control yourself in public, I wouldn't worry too much about it.

IIN is a good place to release your forbidden urges. People in the chat room do it all the time.

I have this attention seeking girl frequenting my household all the time and she does this. All of this.

    I find her extremely annoying.

    • Yes but is it normal for someone with diagnosed ADHD to do it?? I don't do it for attention, I do it when I'm by myself too in my room
