Is it normal for period pains to be so dam painful!?

Okay, when I come on my period its really painful and i'm in bed for a whole week. I can't lay still i cry so much and do stupid things like bite myself or cut my leg to try get the pain off my stomach and the pain worse on my leg because I just can't take it on my belly all the time! ... I've been put on the pill to stop the bleeding abit then taken off it cause it was getting really sick and I had strong painkillers for the pain but they were so big! I couldn't take them they just wouldn't stay down I was just throwing them back up again so now I can't take any painkillers cause they just come back up so I just have to live with it and lay in bed tossing and turning in so much pain... i really feel sometime that I should go to the hospital and get all of it taken out, but I want to have kids so bad! But what can I do about it!? :'(

  • I have the same issue,I went to the doctor and it was discovered that I have cysts in my ovaries, and possibly endomytriosis. Get checked out!

  • And my pain used to be 5/5 like I felt like dying. It's a big difference.

  • I had extremely painful periods too. I had took birth control shot and it hurts a lot less. Like I started my period yesterday and only felt a little pain for a short time about twice. The pain was about a 1/1.5 out of 1-5 scale(5 being most painful. Also, there's a lot less blood. It's like wow! The birth control shot is better than the pills in my opinion.

  • When I was that bad it turned out I had Endometriosis (the lining of the womb building up into the fallopian tubes), this was significantly helped with medication and although I still suffer with bad pains, it has never again been as bad as you are describing.

Go to the Doctor and if he can't or won't help, ask to see a specialist. Don't leave it or it could get worse.

  • Same as me. I'm on the Depo Provera jab and all period symptoms are gone. I haven't had a period in well over two years (I did on the pill though).
Get on a good birth control. :)

  • That doesn't sound right! If I was going thru that I would be looking to find the cause, because your body should not be doing that. Be it a pill, or your diet/lifestyle, I hope you figure it out and get better!

  • Lots of woman that have severe pain and cramps during their cycle, have less with the correct birth control or even much less after child birth.

  • I was the same way. Maybe you should try a different birth control pill than the first you took.
