How exactly does this mean we have no survival tactics? Wouldn't pretending to be something that would help us gain the things we want count as having a good survival tactic?
Exactly. Lying evolved as a survival tactic. I saw a program with footage of capuchin monkeys making false "predator alert" screeches so that the other monkeys would flee into the trees, and the liar monkey would steal some of their food. It's an apt comparison because capuchin monkeys have organized, hierarchical societies, so it's not too far off from humans.
is it normal for people to front all the time?
