Is it normal for people to ask to see pictures of people they don't know?

My friends were making fun of me for not having pictures of some people I talk about. And for thinking it was weird to ask for the pictures. Why?

    Sometimes people are just curious about what other peoples friends, family, coworkers, etc look like. It's one of the reasons stuff like that is posted on social media. But you don't have to have photos of these people on your phone if you don't want to. You also don't have to show them pictures either.
