Is it normal for parents to yell at their children excessively?

  • I'd say normal. Both of my parents would raise their voices for the slightest thing. My dad would get really pissed and shout, but I kinda understand, cause he had his own company, lots of stress and shit and at the end of the day, he couldn't continue to remain calm. My mom was always cautious and more quiet, but if she got in a heated argument with my dad, they'd have a shouting match.

Whenever I had to ask my dad for help with math homework, or sciencey stuff and I didn't fully understand, he'd yell.

I can say I'm very similar to my dad. I'd deal with the stress throughout the day, but at home, if something goes wrong, I will yell and curse for a bit and then I'd calm down. My girlfriend doesn't do much yelling, cause she's never really learned what stress is. She is a university student, learning German.
