Unless I know what the "massive argument" was about, I can't decide one way or the other. The fact that you said it was almost nothing and you won't go into it makes me wonder if the fight was over something you know you were wrong about.
Perhaps you had a fight because you have been mouthy and taking your mother for granted. Maybe she was angry because you haven't been helpful around the house, yet expect everything done for you, like meals, laundry etc. In response, this may be her way of making you smarten up. If it was something she did wrong and you don't like how it is at home, then get out.
As far as your expenses, at your age you should be paying for them.
BTW, you can save almost $500.00 per year if you stop the gym membership, since you can work out at the university. Also, forget about saving for a car right now and use the money towards living expenses and school. You can get around by (oh horrors!) using the bus. Continue to work part-time to support yourself on your own. Many students have done just that.
You didn't mention who is paying for your tuition. If it is your mother, you need to kiss her feet right now. If it is you, then do what I suggest. If you haven't already and are having problems paying for school, get a school loan and/or grant...many students do that also.
Above all, stay in school as an investment into your future. Good luck.
Is it normal for parents to force you to pay board?
