  • Hair cells in the inner ear can potentially repair themselves to an extent, but regaining full hearing will not occur

    • So its possible to re-gain partial hearing, at least? I am compleatly deaf in that ear, and even partial hearing would be an improvement!

      • I also went completely deaf in one ear, last year and have been told the nerve damage is permanent. Are you sure that the popping sound isn't just tinnitus? I have that too!

          • It's noises in your ear. It can be ringing, whistling or 'white noise' - awful nuisance!

              • Yes. But it's not really there for anyone else to hear. No-one knows how to cure it and no-one really knows what causes it - except that it increases with stress.

Recently it's been like I am blow drying my hair with a hairdrier and then other people have to talk to me louder than that hairdrier. It's driving me nuts!!!

Last week I must've had a football team on my shoulder blowing whistles!!! You can imagine trying to get to sleep!! Or if you waken during the night, trying to get back to sleep!!
