Is it normal for my period to just disappear?

I haven’t had my period for over 6 years now. It went away after I started taking birth control shots and I never had a period since then.

It doesn’t bother me, in fact, I like that. Neither am I even worried about it. I’m just curious is this has happened to others.

Is this normal?

They didn’t tell you that’s a possible side effect when they stuck it in your arm?

    • No, but I honestly don’t mind.

But you do. Why else post on here? It’s ridiculous and irresponsible to get drugs and not know the side effects.

        • I don’t. I was just curious as to why it happens

Are you still taking the shots?

I dunno if it's normal, or not, but you should probably get checked out by a ob/gyn. I'm fifty years old, and if I don't get a visit from aunt flow somewhere between the end of October, and the beginning of November in 2020 I will know that I'm officially in the change. Honestly, I have truly despised my monthly visitor for about 39 years so I certainly wouldn't have missed it if it suddenly went away when I was younger, but you probably should really get checked out, my friend.

I never understood the fear of the change. No more periods and no more hormonal contraception. Hot flushes are a small price to pay for that sweet deal.

Wow, you are truly the 'Mother Mary' of the end times who will give birth to the Antichrist.

You can get cancer if you don’t have periods, I was told when I didn’t have one for months. You should see obgyn and make sure all is well.

What rubbish. Why would not having periods cause cancer?

Who told you this nonsense anyway?
