So I'm getting married in a couple days to someone I don't love. It's an arranged marriage and I'm getting paid for it.. Is this normal? Cos it's depressing me

    It depends on your culture or religion. Typically, where I from it's not normal, and in certain areas not legal. (Because of the payment.) Either way, you should definitely try to get out of a situation you're not comfortable with. Otherwise, you can only make the best of it.

    This happens all the time in the Indian subcontinent. So its not an issue. People pay for marriage so as to get the best groom/bride for their daughter/son. The mismatch in education and looks is made up through money. You shouldn't get depressed because it will be difficult to find a better girl/boy than your parents did if you are from Indian subcontinent community.

      Seriously? I understand that all cultures are different, but that doesn't make this okay. It's completely undertandable for her to be upset about someone else controlling her life. Granted, I don't know very much abot the Indian subcontinent. I don't know if it's hard for a woman to live there without getting married. Even if it is, being controlled like this is still an aweful thing...

    No, it's not. If you're underage, contact the police. If you're old enough, get away from your parents. They have no right to try to control you. Bribing you with money doesn't make any difference.
