It's not normal, but some parents are like that. My family does the same thing. I always just ignore it and do what I want, respectively of course. I'd reason with them, telling them I'm confident with the way I look and I'm not hurting myself. So, there's nothing wrong with being myself. They eventually let up, but they'll just make comments like, "you are so weird", or start singing a random song I remind them of. So, now it's all playful teasing, which is kinda funny and better than the nagging they used to do. I guess once they realize your confident being you, they'll let up.
