I don't think this is necessarily from bad parenting. I honestly don't see what he's even doing wrong since he isn't hurting animals or people. I did stuff like this as a kid too. I remember torturing toys and drawing violently graphic pictures and cannot imagine it's too uncommon. I didn't have bad parents and I did get in trouble at school for things that I still don't really understand why because fictional violence isn't a big deal and is all in fun.
