Is it normal for my husband to have sneezing fits after eating sweets?

So, ever since I started dating my husband 8 years ago, I noticed this weird thing that he does after eating things like chocolate, candy, cookies, cakes, frostings, sodas, and even once after eating browned chicken strips-

He inhales to prevent himself from sneezing, his eyes clench shut, he sneezes really hard and then has to basically breathe for a second and regain himself.

He says there is no burning or pressure or anything that remotely seems like an allergy- it's just a constant sneezing sensation after every time he eats anything sweet.

We've never gone to a doctor for this problem. He has no known allergies or intolerances or illnesses and he doesn't take any medication.

We've tried finding info about this on the internet but no one has been able to help us and we can't seem to find anyone else with the same problem.

Could this be a possible allergy?

If so- what can he do about this?

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Sugar adrenal rush, could make sinuses flux from increase in blood pressure. Hence a sneeze to push blood through

  • Perhaps he is allergic to something he is eating.

    • Same thing what I was going to say. It could be normal if hes allergic to it. But if you found that out hes not allergic maybe try different types of chocolate. Maybe even a different brand would help.

  • Maybe a sinus malfunction. Sometimes when I cough real hard, like when something I drink goes down the wrong side, it triggers a sneezing fit. It's not the same, but there you go.

    • Strange, but it might be a good idea to check with a doctor
