Well, I don't see anything abnormal about it. Many families have many ways of bonding. This could be something rooted in her younger years, or something more current. Talk to her and tell her how you feel about it. You never know... you could feel more comfortable about it after the talk. Consider asking her to take a nap with you. Consider asking her to sleep with you instead of her mom. Consider asking her and her mom if you can sleep with them. This could be a stong bonding experience.... and besides... consider the possiblitity of a THREESOME!!!
