Hmmm... Well, first of all, thank god you are ok from the accident. Secondly, it seems like your ex may have something to hide. From experience when someone is guilty they tend to be quite irrational about things and when you slightly even question something quite small they throw a tantrum. So.... She might have some skeletons in her closet....... Be aware and keep your eyes open... I think she may feel guilty about what she has done... Hence her reactions of leaving AND wanting to clear her head. I mean you two have never had any argument of anything so... What exactly does she need to clear her head about unless the guilty conscious has kicked in? :s
