By "talk it through" with her, do you mean that you only want her to tell you things that you want to hear, or do you actually want to hear the truth? It sounds to me like you are not at all interested in the truth, you are only interested in convincing her that she is wrong.
Advice: she is right about her own feelings and you not accepting that IS controlling.
