Is it normal for my friend to constantly text me?

She texts me every day, all day. And when I don't reply right away, she texts me like 43492472774992 times, and then calls me until I pick up, or text back. She wont let me sleep. She texts all night, and tells me not to leave when I tell her i'm getting sleepy. I need to keep my phone on for my alarm to wake me up! And all I hear is the" buzzbuzz" from her texts. Is this normal? How can I politely try and separate myself from her? I still want her as a friend, but she seems kinda craycray.

Is It Normal?
Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • tell her that someone elses is texting you all the time and its really bothering you. she'll subtley get the hint that you dont like being texted and you'll have saved her feelings.

  • Your going to have to tell her, she may not even be aware that's she's doing it to much. Just be easy on her so you won't hurt her feelings.

  • This is in fact normal. but she/he has an addiction. you should seek help if you cant get her to leave you alone at least at night.

  • Try talking to her? She's probably feeling lonely.. Give her like an hour of undivided attention to talk about her problems then cut her off.

  • Lol @ craycray.

You could set parental controls on the phone to not receive texts or calls between certain hours. However, keep in mind you run the risk of not taking an emergency call.

Or you could buy an alarm clock so that you can turn your phone on silent at night.

Or you could face the problem head on and tell her (in person) your concerns and request she not text you after a certain hour.

Either way, you're going to have to take action. The problem is not going to go away on its own.
