is it normal for my Dr. to tell me this?

  • My best female friend suffers with it. Rather than thinning hair, it makes her grow more hair on her arms than she thinks she should have. She has irregular periods, and she's a little overweight. She's found herself a long-term relationship now and, at 28, is thinking about children. The doctor has told her that there's a drug which can bring on ovulation (I don't remember the name, sorry) and this will increase her chances. There was another treatment too which requires minor surgery.

Losing weight can increase fertility and I suppose it's worthwhile mentioning, but not at the cost of other, more effective, treatments.
