Is it normal for my daughter to be masterbauting at the age of 13?

100% normal. Nothing at all to be worried about, but you should take this as your cue to be a great parent and talk to her about it, so she doesn't feel bad or ashamed about it. It's both normal and healthy.

Masturbation starts before birth, inside the womb. Generally it is "forgotten" in the young years (1-10). However, there are some cultures that use genital manipulation on their babies and toddlers to calm them down. Most kids are curious, and play with themselves or each other while growing up (6-10, think "doctor"). The average age of learning to masturbate for pleasure is 12-14. I have some close friends that have always encouraged openness, and their children started around 8. As hormones rage, so do feelings, and so does curiosity about how things work / feel. So 13 is actually pretty normal. Just tell her its fine, and to be safe about it.

Yeah that's normal at that age. She is just entering puberty, and I think the best thing to do is not say anything more about it. I think that most young teens get walked in on at least once. I also feel like if you want to say anything, just tell her it's totally fine. Try not to make her feel uncomfortable about it.
