That word should be abolished.

I'm a male, my boss is a male. He calls me love although he also calls me gay lord, muscles from Brussels and my favourite "fackin useless"

It is normal if she is a lesbian with hidden motives. Otherwise it is abnormal unless she sees you as her child or lil baby.

Your boss should know better, if it makes you feel uncomfortable ask him to stop. If he continues, that's sexual harassment in the workplace.

I wouldn't expect that kind of language to be used normally at a workplace but I know from experience that is occasionally used in a casual setting with no connotation to sex. If you don't like it just tell your boss.

Saying that, I would personally never use such a term in that context.
