Is it normal for music to affect me so much?

  • I think this is normal to those who appreciate, study, or write music.
Music is well known to change moods and have a powerful conditioned psychological influence.

However, I empathise with your point of view even more, as music sometimes seems to have a physical effect with me; I often get a racing pulse and shaking hands etc. When listening intently to certain pieces, in fact, sometimes I listen to deliberately provoke the biological response, like a drug.

I'd just like to point out however, this is never a sexual thing :P
Usually just anger or excitement, a typical adrenaline response.
And i'd also like to point out I listen to extreme metal, and similar genres, so this phenomenon and level of appreciation for music can be found in all sorts of music fans, not just you tasteful, well educated types who favour classical ;P hee hee
