Is it normal for me to chat japanese to my japanese friend?

I just have this weird thought in my mind. I dunno why, maybe it's because of anime. Me and him chat not too often, he's currently in Japan enjoying his vacation and I thought I'd greet him with "Onii-chan" at the start of my sentences online not too frequently.

By the way, he understands English as well.

Help us keep this site organized and clean. Thanks!

  • Okay fellas, I just finished chatting with him about anime a while ago. I wrapped the conversation up with "Onii-chan!", now we shall see what will happen...

  • If you're dithering that much about it are you sure you only see him as a friend?

    • I think of it as some kind of "desire" or something similar. He might say "Okay that's weird lol".

  • Japanese people love it when you show interest in their language and culture.

They are more than ok to speak English with you, but if you know a bit of Japanese and talk to them, they'll love it.
Even if you did learn it from anime XD

The only Japanese I know is konichiwa, gaijin and dorifuto. Hello, insult for foreigner and drift XD

Tho I'd love to visit Japan some day. It's a wonderful country with a long history and interesting culture and very loyal and hard working people. I can not say a single bad thing about the Japanese.

    • I guess that's true. I chuckle everytime someone foreign tries to speak our native language here.

    • That's a bit harsh. Plus, he's OP's friend, he'll correct OP if said anything wrong.
