If being told the truth won't convince him... he may be in a stage where it's easier to think bad things about you vs accepting the truth that you just weren't suited for each other.
I'd suggest telling him to knock it off and pulling back from the relationship for a while.
You care about him yes, but that doesn't mean you should have to defend yourself. I mean his accusations cannot be proven or disproven really.
