Is it normal for guys to collect doll?

Ok, I'm a guy and for a while I've wanted to collect dolls but have always been worried how it could be viewed. I would first point out this is NOT a sexual thing, I collect many things for different reasons for example worth money in the future or just a good toy or model. The monster high dolls are what I'm thinking of getting as they appeal for a few reasons A: they are quite alternative (punk/gothic looking) B: they are made by mattel, barbies creator and C: all the accories will be lost by small children making full sets worth more in the future. Basically my question would be is it normal for guys to collect dolls?

Is It Normal?

  • It's normal to collect anything, even if it's dolls. The gender of the person collecting them shouldn't matter.

  • Sure it is, its no different than people who watch anime or play video games collecting their favorite characters as figurines, male and female characters included. I'd order a Saber doll or figurine from Fate Stay Night in a heartbeat.

  • It's definitely normal, though I'd hate to see those dolls go the way of beanie babies in the future. Still, I suppose if you get up a good collection of toys from this time period in a few decades you'll be set up for a booth in an antique store. o.o I've seen quite a few people who seem to specialize in antique toys, I'm always looking for the original winnie the pooh collection :P

  • I believe it to be normal. I'm a guy, I collect many types of figures that could and have been called dolls. I eventually ended up collecting Monster High dolls because lets face it... They're really amazing looking when you think about it.

  • I think so. I collect Disney character dolls, both male and female, for display purposes. Plush Disney characters too. I also collect a few Star Wars 'action figures' and have just recently started to collect Native American porcelain dolls. Again for display purposes. I've accepted it but am just afraid sometimes others will thinks it's odd. But I'm glad for the support here. Not sure how old this thread is since I don't see a date but home it helps.

  • Im a guy and i have several monster high dolls, Frankie Stein in particular.
It sounds creepy when you say its not sexual, we can just admit we like those dolls are attractive. As adult men we wouldnt collect baby dolls, obviously, its not in mens nature to like those, i was even reluctant to buy them for my daughter when she was little.
So... Monster high dolls are sexy, but unfortunately its normal to deny it, even if we all know its true, and thats the taboo of men collecting dolls.
