Is it normal for girls to go bald at 20?

Basically I've noticed over the past five years that my hair has been getting thinner and thinner. I thought I just had fine hair or something, but now I realise I actually lose a lot of hair but no new ones seem to grow back.

I think I may be going bald but I don't know why 'cause all my family have really thick luscious hair but I don't :( I'm not unhealthy and I'm not ill, maybe anemic (lacking iron) but that's all really.

I went to see a dermatologist about it a couple of years ago while I was seeing her for acne (which has all gone now btw) and she just said my scalp was fine and that was it.

is it normal for girls to go bald from 16 onwards? Should I go check it out even if the dermatologist said my scalp's fine??

    Not normal.
Are you currently on any medications? The balding may be a side effect from them.
Do you have a healthy diet?
Do you eat a lot of seafood? Mercury Poisoning can cause hair loss.

It could be condition called, Alopecia. http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alopecia

If you think it might be Anaemia tell your general practitioner and get a blood test. I also suggest strongly that get a second opinion from another dermatologist. Good luck!

No that is not normal at all. I have heard of greying early but this does not sound normal. You should consult your doctor immediately. This might be a sign of some medical issues you are not yet aware of. If your hairs falling out it sounds serious.

Go to someone else...it's not genetic so it doesn't sound normal

Lack of iron is cause to loose hair, also stress, and nutrition is a factor. I know a girl that lost a lot of hair due to hormone imbalance , go to the doctor and have test done.... Good luck
