Is it normal for fruit to make gum disease worse?

I love fruit, but every time I eat peaches, nectarines, mangoes, berries, grapes and sometimes, tomatoes, my teeth get loose and my gums hurt so bad. I don't think dentists know about this problem, so am I the only one this happens to?

You probably need to see the dentist.

Yeah, whether it's natural sugar found on fruit or processed sugar found in cake, it's still sugar and it's going to make dental problems worse.

obviously, none of you understand. I have always taken care of my teeth. I do know how to brush and floss and rinse, but unless you have gum disease, you don't know what I'm talking about. Does anyone have any experience with natural treatment of gum disease? I have tried just about everything.

    • If it’s not from a lack of taking proper care of them then how did you get it?

  • When you have cavities sweet foods can hurt your teeth. Cause once enamel is broken down sugary stuff and hot beverages have more access. I think fruits can be highish in sugar. So that makes sense here to me that would happen if you have cavities and gum disease. It’s plaque that is #1 I think that causes cavities and gum disease lack of maintenance will cause you to have these issues and bloody sensitive gums.

For your own good you should obviously go see a dentist to get this under control. Floss and use gingivitis stuff too but I’m sure you’ll hear that from a dentist anyway. But if you haven’t already wouldn’t hurt to get some xrays done to make sure everything’s going okay. Ya know fillings if you need it and all that.

Get the fillings and a good cleaning. Then get a sealant added to your teeth by the dentist. My molars have little enclaves making cavities especially apparent. That's why I got my teeth sealed. For gum disease I would suggest regularly brushing with high grade fluoride toothpaste (4%) and listerine mouthwash (or off brand because it's the same composition for half the price)

      • Uh yeah sure. I’ll add onto yours too then haha. Molars are most common for plaque/ cavities cause, food.

I use act mouthwash cause listerine is kinda to rough for me my gums are sensitive in general. I love the purple listerine but it always leaves me kinda soar. I haven’t had a cavitie in, I can’t even remember last but I’ve never gotten a sealant I don’t think.

They are worth the investment. Sealants are rather cheap. More poor people need to get them.
