Is it normal for ears to get extremely itchy when wearing headphones?

I'm a transcriptionist, so I have to wear earbuds (I use the kind that go in my ear at work) but when I do, my ears always get itchy and it makes me want to scratch the insides of them really bad (like, further in that you're supposed to go).
At home I use different headphones that just cover the ear so it's not a problem.

    You are probably allergic to something in the earphones.

    What r they made of? Maybe rubber/latex? You could be allergic to what they are made of. Just an idea. Gd luck.
