Is it normal for boys to get away with everything?

My brother is a few years older than me, and he is a complete ass. He always is rude to me, makes fun of me, ocational hits me. I do hit him back, I'm not a pushover, but then he acts like nothing happened. He is failing all of his classes, and he hardly ever bathes or changes clothes. His routine? Go to school, play xbox, eat, sleep, repeat. All he ever does is be a jerk. I know guys are less mature than girls, but he ALWAYS gets away with it. My mother doesn't even care. She would do anything for him, but me and my sister hardly matter. Is this normal? What should I do?

    Depends on the family? I am the eldest and a boy. I got blamed for absolutely everything.

    Admittedly, I made Bart Simpson look like an absolute amateur, but I was always annoyed that I got blamed for the things I hadn't done, while the things I had done I was smart enough to get away with.

    I have to disagree with the "Girls are more mature than guys" bit girls think that because all they do is look at those types of people.

    Your mom sees your brother in one way and parents have a way in seeing their children for the boy he used to be and not the young man he is today. It is hard as I have a little sister and it seems as though she gets away with everything and almost like she can do now wrong.

    @mando: our parents are divorced, but we see our father every weekend. She has a boyfriend hat lifes with us, and they don't really get along.

    When your mother gets old & needs help your brother will be there
