Is it normal for a young woman to develop the urge to want to mother?

I am a young woman who grew up playing with baby dolls all my life until I started with puberty. I have recently noticed that I have this urge to want to mother and care for a baby or an animal. I know this is an odd question but is it normal for young women to want a baby at a very young age?
I've found myself looking at realistic, lifelike baby dolls online and am considering buying one for myself but I question whether this is normal and what my family would think if I have a doll I play with-in my room.
Any comments would be helpful, thank you,

that depends on your age. I personally think is hard to guess by "too young" according to your post (next time put your actuall age) since people today think that having a child at 20 is too young. My mother gave birth to my older brother at 18 so if you are about 18 thats ok (just for gods sake find a husband before) but younger than that is not a good idea

I love animals, but I honestly have never liked baby dolls. I think all of my maternal instincts have almost completely oriented themselves towards cats, dogs and other companion animals. I've always just associated babies with lots of thankless work and inconvenience. I'm honestly too old to have a baby now, and my last relationship has all but killed whatever trace of that desire to procreate which was left in me. For me personally I've never been interested in having a baby outside of marriage. Had I ever had children I would have wanted to stay home with them at least until they started school.

The time I probably most wanted to have children was when I was in my late twenties and early thirties. When I was a teenager and in my early twenties the whole idea of having babies really just grossed me out and disgusted me. It probably depends on the person and their upbringing. However, like I mentioned before, I remember being given a baby doll shortly before my younger sister was born, and I had little to no interest in that doll. I always preferred stuffed animals to baby dolls. I tend to associate motherhood with lots of thankless toil and disappointment.

To each her own I guess.

Yeah, but it's what's true for me.

I was half-ass down to procreate when I was about 29 to 30 years old. It just looks like so much physical pain to carry, and then deliver a baby. I figure I've probably never loved anyone enough to want to go through that sort of pain for them that I would have a baby for them.

Sure it is, as long as you are legally old enough (20 at least), get a nice husband and make one. But i must warn that all men aren't interested in babies, my girl friend and I have agreed we want to stay childless for life (we personally find kids annoying and one no one between the two of us). But am sure you can find the right guy who would love to have a family of his own. If you are the non traditional type, aren't interested in men and want to be a single parent sperm donors are always an option as well as many new advanced medical procedures. You can also adopt babies (you can do that while married or even as a single parent), plenty of babies in adoption centers waiting to be part of a loving family or have a loving parent. To be a single parent you have to be sure to get a job and pay child care expenses.

But are too young for babies and if you would be equally happy just to get a pet, , its perfectly ok and easier (I rather have pets, human baby screaming is unbearable torture and source of noise pollution disturbing the community) dogs are the loyalest beings in the world imo and puppies are super cute, get a puppy and raise it well. Either ways whats artificial is artificial, and can never replace a real affectionate living being. So get a cute puppy/ and other baby animal and raise it well, caring for it and showing affection to it like a mother. Good-luck!
