Who said it makes them dumb? Just because the majority of criminals were raised without a father does not mean the majority of people raised without a father are criminals, it just gives them more potential due to it to be the case.

What is there to address? You said it makes people dumb, most people my age grew up without a full time father and there were smart ones and dumb ones and inbetweens.
I never said it did or didn't affect development I simply said OP wouldn't be any different than most mothers. Then you said fatherless kids were dumb and that the number of fatherless prisoners was "quite telling" of the character of fatherless adults in general.
Ok, you're right, the prison point was a bad one to make "on its own". If we mix how children raised in single parents home are more likely to become drug addicts, alcoholics, and so on, then we get the picture more likely. Also, you're only speaking from the US, it is the same case for people here in the UK, in areas where they don't live in poverty fatherless people are also make the majority of criminals.

I understand why you may of made the assumption that my point was meaning having no father means you are going to be stupid, however that was not my intent. I myself grew up, for the most part, without a father, and the time I did have with him he wasn't too great (personal things, not going in to it, as I am sure you aren't too interested anyway).
My point is that children raised by a single mother (absent father) is more likely to not have as much of a good mental development as children with fathers. Now, that isn't saying that having an absent father means that you are definitely going to have less of a good mental development, just that's more likely to happen to single mother raised children, nor does it mean you are going to be "dumb", however it will make it more likely for you to become like my links stated, and so will not make you "dumb" but has the potential to make you "dumber" (again, not dumb, just not as mentally developed as two parent households), and as the single parent households continue to increase, with each new generation this will happen a lot more by the people that were raised in those single parent households, and so on and so forth, we slightly become less mentally developed, we become dumber (not dumb, just dumber).
Hopefully that was explained in an understandable way, I was having trouble wording it. :P
