Is it normal for a partner to say these kinds of things?

We were talking about something. My bf claimed hes always right and to wake the FUCK up. When I hung up he went on to tell me that he's deeper, wiser and lore logical etc.... A bunch of other things. I had to literally make him apologize for it because I think thats insane to say that to someone. Is this a good and valid reason to leave?

Is It Normal?

  • Didn't mean to vote yes. It's not normal and sounds abusive. Get out while you can.

    • Yes, his behavior definitely seems abusive because its obviously his intention to make me feel awful. I'll get out. Thanks!

      • Well sadly now you know he is arrogant/ demeaning and rude. That's unacceptable and NO ONE should be talked to that way

        • I honestly feel so slighted... And mind blown. Surely this is a narcissist I'm dealing with? It just seems like he has a personality disorder... To be so full of yourself and think you're so superior is crazy. And ya glad I found out sooner rather than later lol.

    • Do you hate all men? Or just men who don't have gatorade?

      • Nope, I just think OP's jerk is a waste of her time. Besides he probably doesn't even buy her any Gatorade. Maybe things would be different with more electrolytes?

  • He's always right? Did you tell him that you believe the earth is flat or something like that? Did you have a feud over math questions? Science questions? Maybe that's his area of expertise. Maybe he was right? I don't know, lol.

Was he angry that you're wrong over something completely subjective? If that's the case, he's an intolerant son of a bitch.

Is he just a flustery kind of loudmouth? Some people are just harmless complainers.

If you don't like his behavior, or him, you can make up any grounds to unhinge from this relationship.

For fun, or to help him, maybe he needs some counseling in therapy to realize that he's not really being very people-person friendly. If he's going to be an asshole like that, he should get used to it if those with self-respect (you) leave him behind or put some distance in this friendship.

  • A narcissist sure, but he isn't adorable like Sherlock Holmes. I don't think he's safe... I would get out of taht relationship

  • My ex said these things as well. Our relationship didn't last. No one should make you feel inferior in a relationship.

  • Scary how delusional he is... Must have some insecurities himself to be saying all that.

  • There are other fish in the sea. Did he use drugs or drink a lot?

    • He doesn't use drugs or drink a lot. Nor has he in the past. Why do you ask? Lol

      • Just because drugs and alcohol in excess make people delusional sometimes.

        • True. I wish that were the case for him but unfortunately I think its just him.

          • So why not just dump him for being a jerk-wad? It's better to be alone than be with someone who treats you badly.
