You realize children are capable of independent thought? There are plenty of ideas my parents, and other adults in positions of authority have tried to indoctrinate me into that I have entirely rejected. My mother has always maintained that I ought to think of her, and my sister as my best friends, but it's never been that way for me. There's nothing on Earth that could ever convince me that it would be okay to share a boyfriend with anyone ever. One of my best girlfriends back in Las Vegas is into polyamory, and I love her as a dear friend despite the fact that I could never accept, or understand certain beliefs she holds.
Reasonably intelligent people will always be capable of independent thought, because we are all born with something called freewill!
