Now boys are not consenting masochists and should not be subject to the same treatment, in my view not the sort that Witchie suffered, but medical concerns are not serious if care is taken.

If not precluded by law, testicle spanking is an effective and severe punishment, with little effort needed to cause severe and sickening pain that the boy will well remember. Undoubtedly some parents (usually women?) have applied such punishment ruthlessly in the past, and probably it still happens, as well the more common application of a single or very few slaps. Some will consider that the pain and humiliation together teach the boy exactly the lesson required. Others will disagree, and the psychological results of regular hard beatings must also be considered.

But in moderation, the issues are legal and ethical, not medical.
