Testical spanking is something that happens - over the years I have seen enough references to cases in mainstream, non-fetish publications and newspapers to know it goes on, and back in my schooldays I knew one boy who was frequently punished this way. In western countries it will now be considered abusive, but we also know that cases labelled "child cruelty" or similar are the tiny tip of a large iceberg. It may well be more 'normal' in some ethnic communities.
My impression that this may vary from a single slap, painful enough but undoubtedly effective, to cases when the boy is held or strapped or tied down and spanked or hit with a strap or similar several times - undoubtedly agonisingly painful. The boy I knew at school would be undressed and held down by his father and elder sister while his mother would spank him several times with her hand, hard and aiming deliberately at his testicles and causing him awful pain. I have no reason to believe he would lie about it, especially as he felt humiliated and ashamed and very few of us knew.
Testicles are tougher than people think, even though any blow is sickeningly painful, so in moderation it doesn't carry the risks some people claim. Ball punishment is not unusual in the bdsm world. It takes a really hard blow to rupture a testicle, most often when a kick or knee traps the testicle against the pubic bone, or a cane may be dangerous as the force is concentrated across a narrow area and can split the testicle. Other risks are that a blood vessel may break and bleed into the scrotum, or that the soft scrotum istelf can be cut or split. One report I saw a long time ago was of cases brought into hospital emergency, including a teenage boy with a split scrotum. His aunt had tied him to a wire netting fence and beaten him with a belt, and the edge of the strap had caused the damage. He had been tied with his legs wide apart and it seemed from the account that the boy's testicles had been a deliberate target. These days the police would have been called in and all kinds of proceedings taken and the aunt probably would end up in prison.
What can be said is that testicle spanking in moderation is not going to cause this kind of damage, is not going to make the boy sterile (a regular myth that has already appeared in this forum) and is not going to cause cancer. Medical opinion is quite clear these days that neither testicular cancer, nor breast cancer, are caused by past blows to the parts concerned. Witchie, I am really sorry to see that you have lost yout testicles to testicular cancer, but I notice you do not blame your parents for this, nor should you.
Witchie, I think most would agree that your father went well beyond what was sensible or acceptable. These days, most people would say, rightly or wrongly, that punishment for masturbation is wrong, but these were earlier times. However it is clear that he really intended to cause you terrible pain, and when they kept you in tight pants afterwards, this was inventive but confirms their cruelty. But to use the buckle end of the belt was more than sadistic, it really did risk the sort of damage I have described and in that sense you were lucky not to be injured. Was your father actually the person who decided you should get hard testical punishment? Again, from what I have read, women are the more likely to impose this.
So is testical spanking normal? Surely not. It seems to have been occasional in the past, when there was much less interference in family discipline, and it may well be that since blows to the balls, especially from women, are now regularly featured in films, wresting and television programmes, and treated as comedy, that younger mothers are picking this up and using it as an effective punishment. It might even be recommended in moderation, as even Witchie writes, but in countries with enforced child protection and a belief that they should control or even stop domestic punishment, it is going to be viewed as illegal.
Witchie, thank you for telling us of your experiences.
Is it normal for a mother to punish her son by spanking his testicles?

Witchie, this was really rough
