Yes. That's completely normal. He's a human being; some are more emotional than others, and that has nothing to do with gender.
And this is a good thing for two reasons:
1. He isn't keeping all of that bottled up. It's great that he can release all that emotional tension.
2. He really feels the music, and is very attached not only to those songs, but to his performance. Sounds like a great musician. :)
As someone who developed apathy at a young age & is still trying to become as close with music as they once were, I envy him; however, good for you both. ♥
