I'm not sure it's "normal" to hide it. Maybe he was just embarrassed because you make him hard! If it was me and I was attracted to you, I wouldn't make any effort to hide it. In fact, I've been in just such a situation with a woman I was very attracted to, and I had on some really tight and very worn thin jeans. She noticed and mentioned that if I didn't leave, she would have to because she wanted to grab it. But she was married so she couldn't.... still, it was great she noticed and said she liked it.
