Under most circumstances I would say its not normal, if a woman make you want to hit her, turn around and walk away, keep your dignity, this woman isn't worth it. But still I'll play the devil's advocate and ask, what did you say to him before he hit you?
When a story starts with "Well we had been drinking and he decided he wanted to go get some drugs so I went with him", there is always a slight chance that things might go wrong. My advice to you is stay away from that guy, get yourself clean and try to befriend better people, otherwise getting punched is not the worst thing that is going to happen to you.
