Is it normal for a guy to call you 50+ times in a row?

I dated an Italian guy I literally mean date going out getting to know each other non sexual relationship he was hot had a sexy Italian accent he called bella I really thought he was normal shortly after I noticed that whenever he calls and I don't answer the phone he goes crazy he'll call me repeatedly until I answer the closer we got the more he'd increase the calls it went from 20 times then 30 then 50 times when I eventually get a chance to answer he acted completely normal like he saw nothing wrong with calling me that many times repeatedly so I confronted him about it and he flat out told me he was jealous and that whenever I don't answer my phone he imagines that I'm having sex and it makes him crazy he said jokingly "I think I would have to kill you if you cheated on me" I was shocked and scared by what he told me I wasn't even officially his girlfriend and he was that possessive I changed my number so he wouldn't contact me he then came to my school places he knows I hang out he stalked me everywhere I went I was so scared I got a restraining order against him and he's never bothered me since not saying that would happen to you just saying your boyfriends behavior started like that
