If you are a human and therefore just another animal, why don't you get rid of your computer, TV, cell phone, car, clothes, burn your books and go to live to the forest?
humans can draw a line between self defense and a point where it becomes just beating an attacker when you're in control. It can happen when you're fighting a weaker opponent.
Following your former statement, does the fact that man is rational make him less of an animal?
So, you're saying that because we are more rational than other animals to the point of being able to not fight back, that makes us non animals instead of justr an animal with new understanding? You are trying to put morality before biology.
Because man is rational, that makes him less of an animal? Well let's see. There are plenty of intelligent animals out there. Simply because they are more intelligent/rational than the others, that must mean they are not animals either, correct? For example. There are apes than can sign language. That must means Apes are not animals, because the only other animal that can do that are humans, and they aren't animals to you.
Is everything black and white for you? Yes we try to use our intellect to overcome our nature, but we must never forget that we are animals. And I would love to live closer to nature, but because of school I'm kind of stuck in apartments for the time being. :/
My point is that people have to accept that we are still animals, we have to understand that side of us as well because it is there, and if you repress it in the wrong ways it can jump out when you don't want it to.
Point still stands, you really shouldn't have to hit people, but if it's in self defense? Maybe it's because of my own history, but it is what it is. I've been a victim before, I won't be again. I'm sure most people, if needed, would defend themselves or their loved ones if given no other choice.
Of course we would. I mean, you can try to use your strength to keep your attacker from moving, especially if you're stronger. What isn't fair to do is smacking them till you get tired of it taking advantage of your physical superiority. That's self defense no more, that's ATTACKING for the sake of dirty revenge. Most humans are intellectually developed enough to handle such a situation in a fair way to both parts.
Humans are on a higher intellectual level than animals. That's what makes us different from them and makes people considered better than animals. Whether we're considered animals or not doesn't change what and who we are. A rose by any other name would smell as sweet.
Is it normal for a guy to be willing to hit a girl?

Ah. Ok. Most animals do not make nests. So why don't birds just get rid of their nests, otherwise they are not animals.
If you need it explained that simply because our species are different from the others, that makes us non animals, then you stun me with that idiocy.
Especially given that animals have all sorts of different habitats.
