Is it normal for a girl to ask out a boy?

This boy at my school likes me, but is too shy to tell me personally. He'll stare at me once in awhile and that's about it. Like I really like this guy, and is waiting for him to make the first move, but he seems too shy to do so. So I've been thinking that if he won't approach me, should I approach him? I'm tired of feeling awkward around him. So is it normal for a GIRL to ask out a boy? I heard it's not really common to.

    Do it. It'll catch him by surprise, but in the end the result will be the same since you two seem to like each other.

    It's starting to become more common than you think. I confessed to my boyfriend when we were still friends at the time, and it turned out that he liked me too, but wasn't sure how I felt.

    You don't have to leap straight to asking him out: try just chatting a bit first and work up to a date - who knows, maybe he'll ask you! Whatever, it's 2017, no reason why girls can't ask boys out.
