This isn't normal. This person has a Low Self Esteem issue and is using insults as a "Controlling Method". You have to be comfortable with who and what you are. An individual that is living on this planet different from others. Accept that and it will make moving through society easier and also easier to laugh at our own mistakes. Do things that "You" like and don't do things that is done for the purpose of trying to please others. Pleasing others can come later in life when you have the ability to care for yourself first.
