Stupid people in college, yes, there are, I've seen stupid people there, whether academically stupid, practically stupid, or both.
however, Like it has been pointed out, there is more than one kind of intelligence. I'm considered Above Average in the Academic smarts category, but in practical knowledge, I would rate roughly 90, a little below the average. Now, granted, I do know basic stuff, like don't walk into traffic (unless the cars are stopped), brushing teeth, shoe tying, and ass wiping, (obviously), but there are some "simple" practical tasks that would evade me, even if I can do it, I wont be the fastest or most efficient at it.
I also have a tendency to over think things, I may think several scenarios or plans on how to do something, "should I do this way, or like this?" is a common thought that runs in my head, even where it wouldn't to the average person.
Also, some learning disabilities, like Asperger's syndrome can be rather subtle, its usually not something you would be able to spot in a person without observing them for a while, and even then, you may not.
